Rainbow Chamber of Commerce elects 2009-2010 Board of Directors
SACRAMENTO, Aug. 21, 2009 – The Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce elected two new members and seven incumbents to its Board of Directors in a hotly contested race that attracted the largest number of candidates in the organization’s seven-year history. Thirteen candidates competed for five member-at-large seats. The new board will be formally installed at the Chamber’s 3rd Annual Installation Dinner, to be held Sept. 22 at the Radisson Sacramento. Tickets for the event are $75 before Aug. 31, with proceeds benefitting the Chamber’s 501c3 sister organization, the Rainbow Chamber Foundation (www.rainbowchamber.com).
The Chamber’s 2009-2010 Board officers are:
- President/CEO Fred Palmer, publisher of Outword Magazine, elected to a third term
- Vice President Steven Walker, CEO of Fast Break Tech Inc., elected to a fourth term
- Secretary Stephanie Slagel, State Farm Insurance agent, elected to her first term
- Treasurer Jason Russell, CPA, of accounting firm Marcia Fritz & Company, elected to a fourth term
The Chamber’s five 2009-2010 Board Members at Large are:
- Brian Bentzen, Pampered Chef host, elected to a second term
- Attorney Gerald Filice of Filice Law Offices, elected to a second term
- Roy Guira, stylist, The Associates Salon, elected to a second term
- Dr. Darrick Lawson, D.C., owner of Lawson Chiropractic Corporation, elected to a first term
- Bonnie Osborn, owner of public relations company WriteAway Communications Services, elected to a second term
Palmer said the high degree of interest in the election and large number of candidates is a reflection of the Chamber’s recent membership growth and expansion of services. The Chamber has doubled its membership to over 260 members in the past 12 months, recently hired its first paid, part-time administrative staff person, and significantly increased the number of networking and professional development events it hosts. “We were fortunate to have such an impressive slate of talented, enthusiastic candidates this year,” Palmer said. “I look forward to working with all of them on committees and special projects and to making use of their energy and fresh ideas to build and improve this organization.”
