Lavender Heights Rainbow CrosswalkThe Rainbow Crosswalks, dedicated at 20th and K Streets on Oct. 10, 2015, is part of the community-wide effort to officially designate Sacramento’s historic LGBT neighborhood “Lavender Heights.” The project was completed through the efforts of a broad coalition of organizations and community leaders, including the office of Sacramento City Councilmember Steve Hansen, the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center and the Midtown Business Association and individuals including community activist Gary Ferderer, business owner Terry Sidie and many others. The crosswalks project was funded by private donations.
