WHA/UC Davis Executive Leadership Scholarship Winners Report

The UC Davis Executive Leadership Program is winding up this week, with the last session of the 10-week personal and professional growth experience on May 16.

Following a competitive selection process, Rainbow Chamber members Glen Chadwell of Bloodsource and Dr. Kelly Byam of Abel Pet Clinic won full scholarships to the program, an exclusive opportunity for RCC members made possible thanks to a generous partnership between Western Health Advantage and UC Davis Extension. Chadwell and Byam were selected from more than 25 applicants for the scholarships, valued at $5,000 each.

“I’m grateful to have the scholarship and the opportunity to enhance my leadership skills,” Chadwell said. “I’m having a great time learning and participating in such rich discussions. Our class is a diverse group of people from many different industries in the Sacramento area. It’s made for a great learning experience.”

“Being in this class alongside many other business leaders has been inspirational, and the materials offered can be life changing,” Byam said. “It has been an honor to represent my company and the Rainbow Chamber here.”

The UC Davis Executive Leadership Program is designed to help participants master practical tools and techniques designed to turn successful managers and executives into exceptional leaders; learn from experienced business professionals who understand the leadership challenges that arise every day; engage in real-world case studies, hands-on exercises and insightful peer discussions that have an immediate, positive impact on the way one leads. All course materials and gourmet meals are provided to program participants. “Leadership is an essential, teachable skill that transforms organizations and individuals,” said Sharon Huntsman, director of the UC Davis Executive Leadership Program. “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to help grow the leadership capacity of Sacramento’s LGBT community.”
